Stay chill. Your website needs an address people can visit. Here's how it goes live, and how a domain you own becomes its address.
Your website doesn't need a domain to go live. Before it's live, only people with its preview link can see it. One button, Go live, publishes your pages and puts it live. It's on a free address straight away, usually answering within a few minutes.
You can connect a domain you own at any time. If the platform can't already see it's yours, you add one record to prove it. If your domain needs pointing here, the page shows the record to add where you bought it. The platform keeps checking, and only says Working once your domain really answers with your website, securely.
Here's the real thing. Your website's Overview shows its preview address. Only people with the link can see it.
Go live shows the free address it will be live on.
One button puts it live, and publishes your pages with it.
And under Your own domain, you type a domain you own and connect it, whenever you're ready.
Your domain becomes your main address the moment it works, and the free address keeps working too. Until then, your links and emails stay on the address that works. And a website already on your domain is never taken over.
That's how your website gets its address: a free one straight away, and your own whenever you like. Next up: see what Google reads on every page of your website. Don't freeze up!
